Official Profile

Education: Homer L. Ferguson HS (NN, 1980); B.S. Communications, Virginia Commonwealth University (1984; first recipient of Newport News Redevelopment & Housing Authority public-housing scholarship); licensed real estate agent (Alpha College of Real Estate, 2011)
Background: Born and raised in Newport News' Southeast Community. Owner/principal broker, Tina L. Vick Realty & Development, LLC. Founder/CEO Women's Empowerment Development, Inc. (runs 'Girls Camp' mentorship for teens 13-18). Author, 'Growing Up Vick: The Strength and Resilience of the Vick Family' (about being aunt of former NFL QB Michael Vick; featured in ESPN's 30 for 30: Vick). Mother of Teunsha and Terrance Vick; grandmother of Shamar, Tyree, Tyson. Continuously on Newport News City Council since May 2008 (now in her FIFTH four-year term); Vice Mayor 2016-2020. Ran for Mayor in 2022 (finished 3rd, 18.8%, behind Phillip Jones at 40.3%). Newport News City Council, South District 3 / Seat A (officially nonpartisan), term 1/1/2025-12/31/2028 (NOT on Nov 2026 ballot; re-elected 11/5/2024 with 68.8% over Clifton Atkins).
South District representative. Sworn in for 2025-2028 term. [2026-06 RESOLUTE refinement] Roster verified: Newport News City Council, South District 3 / Seat A, in her FIFTH four-year term (since May 2008) — former Vice Mayor 2016-2020; lost the 2022 mayoral race to Jones (3rd, 18.8%). Re-elected 11/5/2024 with 68.8%; term ends 12/31/2028 (NOT on Nov 2026 ballot). HARD adverse 2A evidence — TWO separate roll-call votes restricting lawful carry: (1) On 11/26/2024 Vick was in the 6-1 majority voting YES to expand the NN firearms ban in city-owned buildings/parks (deleting 'openly' so concealed-carry permit holders are also barred — only Eley dissented); by elimination on a 6-1 tally the YES votes were Jones, Bethany, Long, Harris, Coleman (sworn the next month — actually he was NOT yet seated for the 11/26 vote; the sixth YES was Vick herself plus one of Marcellus Harris's first acts immediately after swearing-in OR a councilmember who has since departed — see press for the full roll), AND Vick. (2) She also voted YES on the original Oct 2020 open-carry ban (6-1, with former Councilwoman Patricia Woodbury the sole NO). Two distinct roll calls on local gun-control expansions. Voted YES with 7-0 majority on the FY2026 operating budget (5/13/2025) and was at the FY2027 budget discussion 5/2026 — routine governance, scored null on economic_stewardship q2 (BBA framing). Community work: 'Let's Talk Parenting' event (Mar 2024); Women's Empowerment 'Girls Camp.' On a 2022 gun-violence work session she said: 'I am certainly for giving funding to provide the resources in funding for organizations' — community-organization funding framing, NOT affirmative pro-NNPD advocacy per the skill's high bar; public_justice q0 left null. NO EVIDENCE FOUND on sanctity of life, biblical_marriage (any cell — the 2025 NN Pride proclamation was the Mayor's, not a council vote), family_child_sovereignty (any cell — 'Let's Talk Parenting' is community engagement, not a policy statement on school choice or CRT/SOGI/parental consent), christian_liberty (any cell — no profession of Christ; 'town halls and local churches' tax-outreach remark is civic-spaces reference only), election_integrity (any cell), public_justice q0/q1/q2/q3/q4, refuse_state_overreach (any cell), border_immigration (any cell). No public church/faith affiliation found. Note for the audit trail: in 2019 a Change.org petition (~200 signatures) by David Wilson sought her recall as Vice Mayor citing 'abuse of power, gentrification … housing violations'; did not advance (13NewsNow, Dec 2019) — hostile-constituent petitioning, not a finding. In 2022 her son Terrance was arrested in a multi-jurisdictional drug bust (federal conspiracy charges; she declined comment).
