Foreign-lobby money compromises America First. The U.S. has no formal mutual-defense treaty with Israel; AIPAC operates a super-PAC (United Democracy Project) that spent over $100M during the 2024 cycle on independent expenditures against U.S. candidates who criticize Israeli government policy. A candidate who has accepted that money has, in their own revealed preference, accepted a foreign-policy filter on their congressional vote. The same logic covers China-linked donations, where federal law also prohibits CCP members from contributing.

For every candidate with a documented donor record, two things happen: (1) the specific category question is marked False (foreign_policy_restraint[q4] for AIPAC + China; economic_stewardship[q5] — the WEF/ESG/Davos capture question — for Soros-network donors), so the per-category subscore drops by 2 points; (2) an additional dollar-bracket adjustment is applied to the total, making the penalty proportional to the magnitude of the funding. Both impacts are visible on this page.

Official Profile

Religion: Christian (Baptist — Abyssinian Baptist Church, Harlem)
Education: AB Harvard College; JD Harvard Law School
Background: Former federal prosecutor (AUSA, SDNY) and Chief Deputy NY Attorney General; elected Manhattan DA 2021 (first Black Manhattan DA); re-elected Nov 2025 with 73.8% over Maud Maron (R); term to Jan 2030. Lifelong member and Sunday-school teacher at Abyssinian Baptist Church.
Next Election Year: 2029
Manhattan DA, re-elected Nov 4 2025 (73.8% vs Maud Maron R 20.8%); term ends Jan 1 2030. Evidence-finalized 2026-06-10. HARD contrary evidence: signed the June 2022 Fair & Just Prosecution post-Dobbs pledge to refrain from prosecuting abortion; Jan 2022 'Day One' memo downgraded charges, declined prosecution of several offense categories, and limited bail requests to a short list (partially walked back Feb 2022 under NYPD/public pressure); publicly defended NY bail reform; office published transgender/nonbinary-community prosecution recommendations and runs LGBTQ-focused hate-crimes Pride outreach; office policy seeks dispositions avoiding immigration consequences, wants ICE out of courthouses, said at a 2025 debate he is examining prosecuting ICE agents; post-Bruen statement committed to enforcing NY's 'toughest gun laws in the country.' Public-health gun-violence framing (first-ever Executive ADA for Gun Violence Prevention, buybacks, root-cause programs). public_justice q0 null under the high-bar rule: mixed record (daily gun-case partnership with NYPD touted, but the Day One memo declined standalone resisting-arrest charges and drew sustained police-union opposition; no affirmative anti-defund advocacy found). Credit where earned: documented personal public profession of Christian faith in office (christian_liberty q0 TRUE). Soros funding (precise): Soros gave $1M to Color of Change PAC on 2021-05-14, six days after it endorsed Bragg pledging ~$1M; the PAC ultimately spent just over $500K supporting him; no direct Soros contribution (Jonathan Soros + wife gave $20K directly). See data/soros_adjustments.json for the adjustment layer. Daniel Penny prosecution (manslaughter indictment; charge dropped after jury deadlock, acquitted on remainder, Dec 2024) noted for context.
