Texas is one of the last large conservative states without a school choice program. Rural Republicans have historically opposed ESAs, fearing funding loss to rural public schools. Governor Abbott successfully primaried several anti-choice Republicans in 2024.
Parental authority over education is a core biblical principle. The ability to choose how and where your children are educated — including Christian schools and homeschool — is under the jurisdiction of the family, not the state. ESAs empower parents to make these decisions with their own tax dollars.
