Massachusetts: Firearm Regulations Veto Referendum

State of Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Firearm Regulations Referendum is a veto referendum targeting House Bill 4885 (Acts of 2024 Chapter 135), also known as 'An Act Modernizing Firearm Laws,' which was passed during the 2024 legislative session and took effect October 2, 2024.

In Massachusetts veto referendums, the campaign sponsors advocate for a 'No' vote, as a 'No' vote repeals the targeted legislation. The Civil Rights Coalition is leading the campaign to repeal the law, while Governor Maura Healey and the Massachusetts Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence support upholding it.

This is a critical gun rights battle in one of the nation's most restrictive states for firearms.

RESOLUTE Citizen Analysis

The right to bear arms is a fundamental natural right. Massachusetts' restrictive gun laws burden law-abiding citizens while doing little to prevent criminal violence. Voting 'No' repeals the overreaching law.

"If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him."
