Kansas: Citizens-Only Voting Amendment

State of Kansas

Kansas voters will decide on a constitutional amendment providing that only U.S. citizens can vote in state and local elections. While noncitizen voting is already illegal under Kansas law, this amendment would elevate the prohibition to constitutional status, preventing future legislatures from changing it.

Kansas joins Arkansas and other states in pursuing constitutional citizenship requirements for voting in 2026.

RESOLUTE Citizen Analysis

Constitutionally enshrining the requirement that only citizens may vote protects the fundamental principle that elections belong to the people of the nation.

"When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."

— Proverbs 29:2 (KJV)
