Florida: Proof of Citizenship for Voter Registration

State of Florida

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration, making Florida the 10th state to enact such requirements. The law aligns with the federal SAVE America Act supported by the Trump administration.

Florida joins South Dakota and Utah in the latest wave of states strengthening citizenship verification for voting. Mississippi and other states signed similar legislation in 2025.

RESOLUTE Citizen Analysis

Florida continues to lead on election integrity measures. Requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote is a common-sense safeguard for the democratic process.

"A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight."

— Proverbs 11:1 (KJV)
