Colorado Initiative 109 would require school- and association-sponsored athletic teams to be classified in one of three categories based on biological sex: males/men/boys, females/women/girls, or coeducational/mixed. Teams designated for females would not be open to male students. Teams designated for males would not be open to female students unless no corresponding female team is offered.
This is part of a slate of conservative ballot measures in Colorado -- a traditionally blue state -- alongside measures on fentanyl penalties, human trafficking, immigration enforcement, and a ban on gender-affirming surgery for minors.
Protecting fair competition for female athletes is a matter of justice and truth. God created male and female with distinct biological differences that are relevant to athletic competition.
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."
