Colorado: Ban Gender-Affirming Surgery for Minors

State of Colorado

This citizen-initiated statute would prohibit healthcare professionals from performing any surgeries on minors that would alter biological sex characteristics. The measure also prohibits the use of state or federal funds for such surgeries.

Colorado would become one of the first blue states where voters directly decide this issue via ballot measure rather than legislation. The measure was certified alongside related initiatives on school sports and immigration enforcement.

RESOLUTE Citizen Analysis

Children cannot consent to irreversible surgical alterations of their God-given bodies. Protecting minors from permanent, life-altering medical decisions is a fundamental duty of a just society.

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

— Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)
